Khichardi

This is a wonderful - easy to make & digest meal. Especially good for pre- or post Shirodhara or healing sessions. It’s deeply satisfying and contains a complete balance of nutrition . Recipe adapted from : Heart of Wellness - Kavitha Chinnaiyan.

Ingredients:

1 cup basmati rice

1 cup mung dhal - soaked & rinsed overnight

1 stick celery

1-inch piece fresh ginger

1-2 cups chopped veggies of choice ( spinach, greens, squash, sweet potato)

1 teaspoon olive oil or ghee

2 teaspoons Bliss Spice Mix

Salt to taste.

Method:

This is easy to prepare in A PRESSURE COOKER OR use a heavy bottom pan. wash rice & mung dhal together in a sieve until water runs clear. Heat the oil, add the ginger & celery. When soft, ad the spice mix and saute 1 minute. Add the rinsed rice & mung and 5 cups water. Simmer until mushy. If adding veggies - do that about halfway through cooking. Serve with fresh parsley or coriander & a squeeze of lemon
